Jammu, March 27: Proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly resumed today after a gap of five weeks following Ramadan and Navratri, but the House soon witnessed chaos and disruptions.

As soon as the session began, some National Conference (NC) legislators raised posters and photographs of Iran’s Supreme Leader and shouted slogans in support of Iran.

NC spokesperson and Zadibal MLA, Tanvir Sadiq, arrived in black attire, stating that it was a mark of solidarity with Iran and a protest against Israel. Slogans against Israel were also raised inside the House.

During the protests, NC MLA Hilal Lone was also heard raising slogans such as “America haye haye” and “Israel haye haye”.

On the other side, BJP MLAs staged a counter protest. They raised banners related to the National Law University issue and demanded justice for students and the people of Jammu. Slogans like “Bharat Mata ki Jai” were raised by the BJP members.

The situation quickly turned tense, with both sides shouting slogans and creating uproar in the Assembly.

Due to the continued disruption, the Speaker adjourned the House at around 10:27 a.m. for 30 minutes.

The disruption also affected the scheduled Question Hour, which could not be conducted smoothly due to the repeated interruptions and sloganeering by members from both sides.

As a result, the House was unable to take up its listed business in an orderly manner during the initial proceedings
