3 April , 2026: On Thursday evening, Delhi carried out a major civil defence mock drill across all 13 districts to test how the city would respond during a hostile attack situation.
The exercise started around 8 pm in different parts of the city. Teams practised emergency actions such as evacuating people, shifting them to safe bunker areas, and handling injured individuals. Medical teams and disaster response units worked together during the drill.
A simulated air raid warning was issued through a special communication system connected to the Air Force station. After the alert, selected areas experienced a planned blackout where lights were switched off to check how well people follow emergency rules. At some locations like hospitals, officials tested how quickly teams could respond to emergency alerts. Rescue teams reached the spots, set up operations, and treated mock casualties. Authorities also identified sensitive areas and discussed safety steps like camouflage to reduce risks during real attacks.
In the morning, another drill was conducted in a basement area used as a bunker. People were guided to safety while medical staff remained ready to handle emergencies.
Many agencies took part in the exercise, including civil defence teams, police, fire services, NCC, and disaster management units. The aim was to improve coordination, communication, and quick response during emergencies.
Senior officials supervised the drill and will submit detailed reports for fu
rther review.
