Hardcore Criminal Nabbed by Jammu Police in Major Operation; Injured in Retaliatory Fire During Weapon Recovery

Jammu, June 9, 2025: In a major success, the Jammu Police has arrested a dangerous criminal involved in several serious cases, including a recent attack on a police party in Bari Brahmana. The accused, identified as Bagh Hussain alias Baghu alias Sunny, son of Mangat Ali, originally from Laswara (Bishnah) and currently living near Kikri Morh, Bari Brahmana, was arrested from the state of Haryana.
The arrest was made after an intensive investigation into FIR No. 53/2025 under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act, registered at Police Station Miran Sahib.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he had hidden a loaded pistol and an axe ("kulhadi") in Banachak village under Police Station Bishnah.
Acting swiftly, a police team led by Inspector Jai Pal Sharma and PSI Ajesh Jamwal from Miran Sahib Police Station, under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Gurmeet Singh and with support from SHO Bishnah Inspector Sushil Choudhary, went to the location to recover the weapons.
However, during the operation, the accused tried to snatch the service weapon of a constable, Arun Sharma, leading to a violent scuffle. In the process, the constable was injured. In self-defence and to prevent further harm, the police had to open fire, injuring the accused. He was immediately taken to SDH Bishnah for treatment and remains in police custody.
Police sources confirmed that Bagh Hussain is a history-sheeter with a long criminal record. He is wanted in 27 FIRs across Jammu, Samba, and Himachal Pradesh, including eight cases involving attacks on police personnel. His crimes include charges of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, dacoity, arms smuggling, rioting, criminal conspiracy, and interfering with government duties.
Senior police officials, including SSP Jammu Joginder Singh (JKPS) and SP Headquarters Ajay Sharma (JKPS), praised the police team for their courage, quick response, and professionalism. They emphasized that Jammu Police is fully committed to maintaining law and order, and no criminal will be allowed to escape justice.
Further investigation is ongoing to uncover the full network and activities of the accused in the region.
